July Roundup: Sweet Successes, Giving Back, and Exciting Nominations at The Busy Food Company
As July draws to a close and the summer sun continues to shine, we at The Busy Food Company have been reflecting on a month brimming with generosity, and community spirit. True to our ethos, July has seen us rolling up our sleeves, baking with love, and reaching out to support those around us in new and heart-warming ways. From raising funds for local charities to supporting national television projects, and receiving a very special nomination, there’s plenty to celebrate.
Charity Cake Sale: Baking for Chorley Inspire
This month, our kitchen was once again filled with the irresistible scents of cakes, cookies and all things sweet as we hosted a charity cake sale.
But of course, it wasn’t just about indulging in slices of flapjack or chocolate brownies. The real purpose behind the event was to raise money for Chorley Inspire, a fantastic local charity dedicated to supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential. Through mentorship, guidance,

and a range of engaging activities, Chorley Inspire offers a lifeline and a source of encouragement to so many in our area.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, staff, and local supporters, we are delighted to announce that we raised a wonderful sum for Chorley Inspire and hope to raise more at our second upcoming sale. Every penny will go directly towards funding their vital programmes, from skills workshops to counselling sessions, making a meaningful difference in young lives. A huge thanks to Ian and Sam in the kitchen, who despite having events to cater for and our regular pie orders to fulfil, still managed to rustle up some delicious treats. Our next cake sale for Inspire will take place this Sunday, 3rd August 12-3pm.
Pies for a Purpose: Supporting BBC DIY SOS
July brought another opportunity for The Busy Food Company to give back, this time on a rather grand scale! We were honoured to donate a batch of our famous pies and sausage rolls to the cast and crew of BBC’s DIY SOS during their recent project in Freckleton.
The DIY SOS team, renowned for transforming homes and lives through their inspiring renovations, were working tirelessly on site, braving the unpredictable British weather and putting in long hours. We knew that hearty, homemade comfort food would go down a treat, and so, boxes of our pies – lovingly prepared with local ingredients and plenty of care – made their way to the set.

The response was overwhelming! It was a true pleasure to know our food helped fuel the hard work
and camaraderie of a crew dedicated to making a difference. It’s always heart-warming to see how the simple act of sharing a meal can lift spirits and bring people together. We extend our thanks to the DIY SOS team for letting us play a small part in their incredible efforts, and we can’t wait to tune in when the episode airs to see the transformation, knowing that our pies played their own supporting role.
