Quick Weeknight Meals Using Our Pies and Savouries
The Busy Food Company got its name for a reason.
We started with one clear goal: to help busy people eat well. No supermarket ready meals. No mystery ingredients. Just high-quality, handmade food using proper ingredients. Easy to reheat. Fresh or frozen. Full of flavour.
Whether you’re rushing in after work, juggling family teatime, or just can’t be bothered to cook from scratch — we’ve got you.
Our pies, sausage rolls, and Scotch eggs are ready when you are. Here are five quick ways to turn them into full meals with very little effort.
1. The 10-Minute Pie Plate
A proper plate of food without spending your evening in the kitchen.
You’ll need:
One of our handmade pies (try the Beef Bourguignon, Curried Cauliflower, or Chicken & Leek)
Steam-in-the-bag veg or salad
A spoonful of mash or a slice of crusty bread
How to serve:
Warm your pie in the oven or air fryer as per the label instructions.
While that’s going, heat your mash or steam some veg.
Add mustard, horseradish, or onion chutney on the side if you fancy it or even stir it through your mash.
Good for:
Weeknights when you want something filling and comforting
2. Sausage Roll Snack Board
Perfect if you’re sharing food or want a picky tea.
You’ll need:
2–3 of our sausage rolls (Chicken Honey Mustard, Fajita or Pork & Pear are great for this)
Cheese, pickles, sliced apple or grapes, a few crisps or crackers
How to serve:
Warm the sausage rolls and slice them up.
Lay everything out on a chopping board or tray.
Let people mix and match their own bites.
Good for:
Easy family tea or a no-effort Friday night spread
3. Scotch Egg Salad Bowl
Lighter but still satisfying.
You’ll need:
One of our handmade Scotch eggs (Breakfast, Fajita or simply traditional pork)
Salad leaves, chopped veg, maybe an extra boiled egg
Your favourite dressing
How to serve:
Slice the Scotch egg into halves or quarters
Build your salad and top it with the egg
Drizzle with dressing and crack over some black pepper
Good for:
Warm evenings, lighter appetites, or lunch leftovers
4. Pie and Chips Done Right
A proper tea with hardly any effort.
You’ll need:
One of our pies (Butter Pie or Steak & Guinness work well)
Oven chips or sweet potato wedges
Frozen peas or baked beans
How to serve:
Reheat the pie and cook the chips
Microwave the peas or beans
Plate up and add brown sauce, ketchup, or gravy
Good for:
Classic comfort food that hits the spot midweek
5. Freezer Fix for Busy Nights
All our pies and sausage rolls freeze well. They’re perfect to keep on standby for evenings when cooking just won’t happen.
What to do:
Stock up with your favourites
Defrost in the fridge or cook from frozen, depending on the item
Best frozen choices:
Chicken & Leek Pie
Beef Bourguignon Pie
Curried Cauliflower Pie
